To help celebrate the opening of the new Hare Brewery we’ve decided to dedicate our beer taps to Bath Ales all week long so as to feature the full range of their delicious beers.
Over the week we’ll be putting on Gem, Prophecy and Barnsey, ales that you probably already know, plus the first taste in North Devon of Lansdown, their new big, bold & hoppy 5% West Coast IPA. Alongside that will be Dark Side Stout, Cubic Triple Hop Pale Ale and Sulis, their new English lager. Something for everyone there!
We’re starting the week with a ‘Six o’clock Sample Session’ every evening (on Bath Ales’ tab!); Thursday it’s ‘Meet the Brewer’, Darren, for more samples over a friendly informative chat; and Friday we’re going to rock the amphitheatre with live music from The Garden Club and a TOGA PARTY! Turn up on Friday in suitable Toga attire and get a free Bah Ales drink on us (other Roman wear will be equally rewarded)!
The Red Barn has been home to Woolacombe’s surfers since the sport washed up on North Devon’s shores. Back at the start of the sixties the Surf Life Saving Club formed on Woolacombe Beach, shortly followed by the professional lifeguard service, and with The Red Barn’s proximity to the beach we became an unofficial club house and meeting point for those involved.
The local and visiting surf scene found a welcome home in The Red Barn that carries on to this day. Check out the collection of classic surfboards we have on display in the rafters, most were either made or surfed by local surfing ‘legends’ here at Woolacombe!
The Red Barn is a sponsor of the Museum of British Surfing.
